When I got home I decided not to look at this Board's match thread because I knew what it would be like. Last season we were ill prepared for Astra but this time we had no excuses and it is unacceptable to me that despite last season's experience we so totally underestimated the Romanians.

Fletcher (who was obviously one of the very few positives) hits the nail on the head on the official site this morning saying 'we came back to the London Stadium expecting to play them off the park'
question is is that down to Bilic or should the players not need motivating ?

Good points.
The problem is Bilic has applied the handbrake this Season by playing 3 defensive midfielders instead of last Seasons 2 defensive midfielders.
This has let teams settle and we are certainly lacking punch now

should have beaten Stoke. Last season we relied a lot on goals from midfield ie Antonio, Payet, Lanzini
The problem we have and have had since Ashton is no decent striker. Its beyond a joke really.

Fucking around time-wasting aside, I actually thought Astra were really good - especially their defence.
Okay we ARE missing our best, most creative players, our record signing AND we're bedding in a couple of players who look absolutely woeful at the moment. We've got a kid up front who only stepped off the plane from Brazil a week or so ago and who seems to have played without a break all summer, and a kid at left-back. Antonio (who is NOT shit) is playing 'guess where I'm playing you tonight.'
Fucking hell we even had to bring Ginge on and play him as a centre-forward towards the end. How desperate was that?
From now on we really need to go at teams from the beginning of games and not let them settle. Make them think they are playing a big team in that stadium. Astra started like they were intimidated by playing at such a big stadium but we gave them the ball and let their nerves settle. The only team who seem intimidated by the London Stadium is us.

We are in a better position than we were this time last year.
Then we went out of the Europa at this stage , won one and lost one in the Prem (same as this Season).
Then we went on to lose at home to Bournemouth!
Get something out of the City game then better already this year, big if though

We spent most of last season 5th or 6th and really should not have had to play qualifying games for the Europa anyway. Could have finished 4th for CL, should have finished 5th or 6th but fucked up the end of the season and finished 7th.
Given a lifeline by Man U winning the cup and despite all the big talk about new beginings at the OS and raising our profile by playing in Europe regularly and pushing for honours we fucking lost AGAIN to a Romanian amateur side.
We still had no LB for the game, 3 defensive midfielders starting and no suitable strikers.
Fuck off.

I have been going for many a year and while the defeat the freshest in your mind feels the worst and I know there have been some far more embarrassing ones.
Having said that there is no getting away from last night that our opponents were extremely poor themselves and I believe an average Championship side would have been disappointed not have beaten that Astra side.
Last night I think a decent League One side would have given the side we put out a tougher game and our failure to go through were more down to our own failures than any good play from our opponents, with most of those failures being in positions the fans have been crying out to address all summer makes it a more bitter pill to swallow for some.

Thanks to Bilic treating Antonio like something he's trod in, his confidence is evaporating and even the fans are starting to turn on him.
Until Bilic restores him to his rightful position then people should reserve judgment.
It amazed me that after seeing it not work on Sunday the manager repeated his error and started Antonio and Tore on the wrong flanks again. We're going to keep losing matches if Bilic keeps making such crap decisions.

I was at Wigan, was memorable for probably the funniest coach journey home i've ever had
City their was excuses and we weren't really expecting to ge through were we, i think 99% of us thought we would be in the draw at 12 today. Plus all the shit on twitter with the fights and other teams shirts etc.....one of them mornings were people in work give you stick and theres literally fuck all you can give back

Fair enough, I'd say Wigan away was more embarrassing or Man City in the semi finals recently. Pardew's last game at Bolton. Too many to think of as it goes.
Worst ever for me was Wrexham in the FA cup. Some bald cunt smashed one home in the last minute, loads of welsh going mental trying to get on the pitch.
